Birdbox
Step One, Before Watching the Movie:
"Birdbox" is a Netflix original, as well as directed by Susann Bier, and posted in 2018. This movie is a Dramatic Horror Science-Fiction, rated R.
Step Two, Plot Overview:
"Birdbox" starts off with a woman named Malorie Hayes (Sandra Bullock) telling two kids, known only as Boy (Julian Edwards) and Girl (Vivien Lyra Blair), that they are going to take a dangerous trip across the water, and she stresses how urgent it is that they keep their blindfolds on as they head outside. Malorie grabs a box with her pet birds inside and guides the kids outside by following a string trail before finding the boat and hopping in on the river. The movie progresses from that point to make it a better dramatic film. Watch "Birdbox" to see the rest of the story!
Step Three, Critiquing in Categories:
In this Netflix original movie, there are some major themes that effect the mood of "Birdbox". The major theme of the movie is that sometimes staying in the dark is better than in the sunlight. This theme is meant to be portrayed when the sickness arrives and people open their eyes and commit suicide. Themes make the movie enjoyable sometimes with drama and different aspects of it. There is also symbolism inside the movie when they commit suicide it makes them more in the light and knowing how it effects them.
- In this Netflix original move the story is told in third person point of view, limited. This specific point of view is used to describe the outside perspective on a lot of people.
- In this movie there is a wonderful amount of cinematography. There are some setting that i wasn't sure if it was fake or not making the camera good quality and a good movie.
- The set design was realistic and helped tell the story. The movie seemed to flow together okay but it did have a few choppy segments. Over all the movie was generally good and action packed. I personally watched the movie more than twice and love it. I would rate this movie a 9.5 out of 10 because the movie was good but choppy at times.
